Provenance
(The History of Rolls Royce JMD929K)

Rolls Royce Cars, when new, are invariably owned by successful
people. They appeal to business and theatrical types who appreciate
quality and, of course, are used by
Royalty and by senior diplomatic staff abroad who are projecting the
'British' image. A Rolls Royce which has been previously owned by a member of the Royal Family (even a junior Royal) becomes far more collectable and valuable than the age of the car might suggest. Cars owned by celebrities are similarly more collectable. Rolls Royce JMD929K has had more than one registration number but has been returned to the number it originally had when it was owned from new by the comedian and TV entertainer, Dick Emery. |
|
| For those too young to remember Dick
Emery, he was a very famous 'character comedian' famous for many
characters including Lampwick (the elderly gent), Hettie (the spinster)
The Bovver Boy (teenage yob) and his most famous character Mandy (the
peroxide blonde) who was prone to misinterpret any sentence as a sexual
innuendo and whose famous lines were: 'Ooh you are awful...... But I like you.' Dick was married five times, so he must have enjoyed being driven to wedding ceremonies in Rolls Royce cars. |

You may notice that the car was originally a darker colour. It was originally Caribbean blue but was re-sprayed white when it had a career change to that of wedding car. I do not know who did the re-spray but they did a great job. |
